Guest Composer-Conductor @ Midwest Clinic (Chicago)

The University of Kentucky Jazz Ensemble will present the premiere performance of Cityscapes. This is an adaptation of my saxophone quartet composition of the same title, composed nearly 20 years ago for the same client!

At the same concert the University of Kentucky SaxCats (10-piece saxophone ensemble) will also premiere my brand-new arrangement of You’re a Mean One, Señor Grinch, also written expressly for this performance.

By the way, world-class saxophonist and woodwindist Jeff Coffin will be the featured guest soloist.

If you’re at Midwest, the performance will be Wednesday evening. Beer to follow. I hope to see you there!

Charlie Brown Christmas Jazz @ Pine Grove LATE SHOW

Come listen to the iconic music from the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack performed live. You’ll hear Vince Guaraldi’s classics as well as other beloved holiday tunes, interpreted by Central PA’s own Rick Hirsch 4. This 75-minute show has been an annual favorite at the State Theatre since 2017, always selling out in short order. This year we’re excited to present this concert on the main stage at Pine Grove Hall.

The Rick Hirsch 4 is one of Central PA’s favorite jazz groups. The members are all accomplished musicians, and the musical chemistry between the four of them is magical.

Bassist Bob Hart has toured and recorded with Cat Edmondson, Van Dyke Parks, and Deborah Harry. Locally he plays with the Zeropoint Big Band, Ady’s Latin Band, and Pure Cane Sugar. The Rev. Dr. Kevin Lowe has been Central PA’s favorite drummer for 15+ years. He also performs with Zeropoint and Ady’s Latin Band. Pianist Clay Wulbrecht is a dynamo graduate of the esteemed Jacobs School of Music (Indiana U). His well of musical ideas never runs dry, and he also performs with Ady’s Latin Band. Rick Hirsch has performed with Max Roach, Tito Puente, the Temptations and the Four Tops. He is also a local saxophone teacher and performs with Zeropoint and Ady.

Dinner and bar service available before and during the show.
